The use of white and pink marble gives the Verlat Hall an aristocratic atmosphere. Large paintings by Michel Marie Charles Verlat are featured on the huge walls. The room is an homage to Verlat who obtained most of his study material at the Antwerp ZOO. Verlat is still recognized as a worthy portraitist and outstanding animal painter. He is a typical representative of the 19th century Antwerp painting school. Classic cleanliness and a prototype Antwerpian bourgeoisie from the 19th century.
With its impressive monumental marble staircase, the use of the Verlat Hall can be combined with a walk in the adjacent Winter Garden. Weather permitting, half of the covered terrace which overlooks the Flamingo square can be used as well.
The Verlat Hall is located on the ground floor of the Historical Wing.
